Why the paintings in the gallery are not offered as downloads
The paintings in our gallery and the artwork of video games belong to their creators, publishers, or collecting institutions, so we do not offer them for download.
If you want a classical painting as a wallpaper, some museums publish public-domain images through open-access programs. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, for example, lists Ren Yi's 1883 Zhong Kui hanging scroll under its Open Access policy, which allows free copying and reuse. Check the rights label on each object before reusing an image.
Choosing a good Zhong Kui wallpaper
Small screens reward clear shapes and strong contrast. Choose an image whose main figure or lettering survives being shrunk, and keep the key detail away from the clock and icons on a phone lock screen. Dark backgrounds with gold or red lettering, like this set, stay readable and are easy on the eyes at night.
To understand what you are putting on your screen, start with the guide to Zhong Kui's symbols or the meaning of the characters in Zhong Kui's name.
